Most people have never looked closely at their car for hail damage before a storm hits. Here's what the three main severity levels look like, what paintless dent repair typically costs at each level, and what we'd recommend telling your insurer when you file.
Dime to nickel in size. Hard to see in direct sunlight, but obvious under the LED line boards we use during inspection. This is the most common kind of damage after a typical Kansas City storm, and it's almost always worth filing a comprehensive claim for.
Nickel to quarter sized. Visible without special lighting. The hood, roof, and trunk take the worst of it. You may also see paint cracking along sharp body lines, which is worth photographing for the claim.
Quarter sized and larger. Some insurers may flag this as a potential total loss based on their first estimate.
