Before you call, gather these four things.

Find it in the USAA app, on your insurance card, or on your declarations page. State it as the first thing when you reach a rep.

Lower-left corner of your windshield (visible from outside), or the driver-side door jamb sticker. 17 characters.

Even an approximate date is fine — "around [month], [year]." The carrier's weather data confirms it.

Photos of the damage
Take them in direct sunlight. One overview photo per panel (hood, roof, trunk, each door), plus close-ups of the worst dents. If you can see the dents in the photo, that's enough.

Before you sign anything

Don't accept the first estimate as final
LED line board inspection reveals dents that phone cameras and visual inspections completely miss. The first estimate — especially a photo-based one — is almost always 20–40% below actual damage. It is not a cap. We submit supplements and get additional damage approved.
Don't let them assign your shop
USAA can suggest their USAA STARS network locations. You can listen and then politely decline. "I'll be using Hail Solutions in Olathe" is the full sentence required. No explanation needed.
Don't accept total loss without a second opinion

Don't wait more than 30 days to file
